West Sedona is a great place to stay if you’re visiting Sedona for the first time. Here you’ll be close to many hiking trails, including Devil’s Bridge, Soldier’s Pass, and Fay Canyon.

Also, you’ll have amazing views of mountains like Chimney Rock, Thunder Mountain, and Coffee Rock throughout.

There’s a variety of hotels near restaurants and shops, and a few tucked away in the mountains. I always visit the Whole Foods in West Sedona before a hike, and it’s a common stomping ground for tourists. 

West Sedona is near everything, so you’ll be within a 15 minute drive from sites like Chapel of the Holy Cross, Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park, and Sedona’s energy vortexes (Boynton Canyon, Airport Mesa, etc.).

If you don’t plan on renting a car, you can use the Verde Shuttle ($1 per ride) to get throughout Sedona. There’s a shuttle stop at the Sedona Municipal Lot in Uptown.

It’s only 6 miles away from Slide Rock State Park, where you can spend the day exploring Sedona’s natural waterpark. 

In Uptown, you’ll have the best view of Snoopy Rock mountain, and be close to hiking trails. The Brin’s Mesa and Munds Wagon Trail are two lesser known hiking trails near Uptown with beautiful views of the red rocks. 

The only downside is that Uptown is the most touristy area of Sedona, where the Sedona Visitor Center and Pink Jeep Tours are located.
